01 ethos

After hiking in the rain for several hours we discovered a set of large, ancient monoliths. What was barely visible at first, eventually loomed tall above us, revealing itself to be a popular tourist trap. Made using extracted materials and designed to stand the test of time, we can only hope to create and offer things that last 1/11th as long. Its also a moonshot, this endeavour.

There, we’ve now justified the name, random photo of Stonehenge and logo all in one paragraph under a bougie subtitle.

02 stuff

Ah, stuff... the world absolutely loves stuff. We buy it, use it, display it, carry it around, and then usually discard it into some rubbish bin or abandon it and let someone else deal with it. Hopefully not this stuff.

We offer original and limited edition stuff, handmade in Canada using sustainable methods and non-toxic materials. Ideally you love this stuff so much that you decide to bequeath it to a loved one rather than the aforementioned rubbish bin. As long as it remains useful for 454.55 years we have met our goal.

Keeping with the theme, 11% of all proceeds are donated to socially responsible organizations. More on that later, when we actually have proceeds.

studio bookshelf

twine rack

Pronounced with an ‘a’ in place of the ‘i’ (ˈtweɪn) this piece was inspired by Shania Twain. Hanging out backstage at some small club in Idaho, we had a few shooters, they only served the hard stuff at this place from what I remember. She kept desperately asking for some decent wine to be brought back with that cute accent of hers.

Note - this story is entirely made up but the rack shown here is absolutely real. Available in reclaimed pine tubafors (ˈ2 by 4’s) or reclaimed plywood. Canadian hemp twine.

$200 (pine)

$175 (plywood)

Don’t even ask about including the wine or glasses.

bistro trestle table

Reclaiming lath from beneath 150 year old plaster is not a task for the fickle. Think, clouds of dust, heavy plaster particles to be moved, endless small nails to be extracted, bits of plaster in your crotch at the end of the day and you have the idea.

Despite the torture involved in gathering the materials this table makes it all worth it. Reclaimed lath is sealed in ecopoxy and supported with Canadian MDF on a eastern white pine base.

$1300 (36x36)

$1900 (36x72) Tables may be mated to form one longer table for special occasions.

Chairs not included. By the way, we enjoy pain so if you have some plaster walls you want to update, reach out to talk about recovering the lath.

03 features

There is no better way to get rid of a lot of cool salvage or sustainably harvested materials than to have us create a custom designed and installed feature for your domicile. Depending on what we have on hand, or can be harvested as part of your project, we turn ideas into bloody miracles using techniques and finishes that won’t cause you or us to die while coughing violently.

Features are produced collaboratively with flexible arrangement of workload depending on your needs and skills. Although we hate the word coaching, we can stand behind you with a whistle for a day brining you from prospect to rookie or veteran to MVP.

Reclaimed lath from onsite reno, heritage storm window, and Canadian western red cedar. Ultra cool engineered flooring that features a Canadian ash substrate and yellow birch veneer, available from Logs End.

hooch cabinet

With the exception of certain regions in Appalachia, ductwork protruding into your kitchen can be considered distasteful. This feature serves a dual purpose, hiding, ductwork and making use of reclaimed pine and a weathered storm window to display moonshine in an upscale manner, helping to justify those odd smells from the backyard your neighbours might otherwise complain about.

04 upcycle

Finding and harvesting things to divert from landfill takes time and energy. Time, I’m ok with - its reflected in the price. Energy, I try to conserve when possible and work collaboratively to locate and move materials. If you have things you feel we might work with, or need help diverting and live in the greater Ottawa area, please reach out.
